What to Expect

The Tesla Direct Procurement team is looking to hire a skilled commodity Buyer to manage the entire value process for the aluminum, scrap & recycling commodity, having Tesla commodities a continuous focus on circularity, for sustainable & cost effective Raw Materials. You are in charge of one or more sub-commodities within the Aluminum perimeter and lead strategy & execution in EMEA, with the key target to empower global methodologies and have an advanced global impact. You are involved in the development process for new key projects on sustainability & end of lifecycle across different materials from an early stage and you are the link between external suppliers and internal customers. You will work in close coordination with US and China Supply Chain teams. You are also the reference person for Material Engineering, Design, parts Supply Chain, Material Planning, Manufacturing and Waste Management teams on the product groups you manage.

What You'll Do

Responsible for selecting suppliers and carry out contract negotiations. This is done by focusing on global commodity strategy, quality, specification, price and reliability of supply Ensure supplier readiness before SOP and during ramp-up Evaluate supplier business proposals and present recommendations that will result in cost savings, avoidance or containment Provide guidance on and evaluate final selection of suppliers; Perform value analysis for final selection of suppliers Based on key performance indicators, you demand continuous improvement from your suppliers You strive to involve suppliers as early as possible in our development processes Continuously undertake market research and benchmarking in order to benefit from new trends in the global and EMEA supplier market. Special focus of research will be on “constant in-depth intelligence on the scrap Market” as key inputs to the colleagues managing steel, aluminum and resins commodities and to an advance “Green materials strategy” Work collaboratively on a cross-functional level with other departments like engineering, supplier industrialization, quality and many more New supplier introduction and management You manage commodity accounts in the operational level supporting the continuity of Tesla manufacturing

What You'll Bring

You bring solid experience in raw materials procurement or direct procurement within the automotive sector. You have a drive to make sure that all assigned programs are fully under control for Gigafactory Berlin set-up and growth You possess a higher vocational or university qualification in a subject such as material/chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or business management, or equivalent experience Experience in purchasing one or more of the relevant commodities and have in-depth technical knowledge of the products Knowledge of automotive processes and strong analytics skills: strong value analysis & data modelling skills will be a strong plus, even in absence of specific Raw Materials expertise. Precision in data management, mental agility and problem solving skills are as well key to the job You are fluent in English. German is desirable.
