The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of one year and good prospects for extension. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.



Prepositioning relief items has been a preparedness measure set up by many humanitarian organisations all over the globe to be better prepared to respond to disasters in country.

The Emergency Supply Prepositioning Strategies (ESUPS) project objective is to support the coordination of national and regional prepositioning strategies of relief items to increase time and cost effectiveness in stock delivery during emergencies.

The ESUPS Communications officer focuses on promoting the ESUPS project as a whole and the STOCKHOLM platform and advancing the advocacy strategy for a change of mindset, through impactful communications. The role is embedded in the Emergency Supply Prepositioning Strategy (ESUPS) project of the Humanitarian Directorate, which strengthens humanitarian logistics preparedness through strategic stockpiling.

Your responsibilities

Adjust, fine-tune and implement an effective communication strategy based on ESUPS target audiences and project goals Developing and implementing a social media strategy Designing integrated communication campaigns Creating and disseminating engaging content (articles, case studies, visuals, newsletters, bulletins) Supporting graphic design and coordinating external providers Building and maintaining stakeholder relationships (partners, donors, logistics platforms) Supporting campaigns and events (e.g., humanitarian summits) Monitoring communication reach and effectiveness, contributing to donor reports Managing and maintaining the ESUPS website including SEO Leading internal WHH communications (team channels, meetings, retreats) Supporting donor proposals and reports Supporting onboarding of new staff

Your profile

A bachelor's degree in the fields of Communications, Humanitarian aid or Journalism 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience working in Communications including some in the humanitarian sector Proficiency in communication platforms/tools and designing and publishing softwares (WordPress, Adobe Suite, Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, Mailchimp, video editing) Understanding of humanitarian systems, logistics coordination mechanisms, clusters and humanitarian content formats (briefings, reports, summaries) You recognize the growing value of data in your field and are eager to build your awareness and skills to incorporate data-informed approaches into your work Excellent communication skills as well as persuasiveness and assertiveness towards partners, stakeholders and decision makers, and ability to build relationships with stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds Multi-stakeholder environment experience Fluency in English required, professional knowledge of Spanish or French is an advantage
