Job Purpose/Overview

The Category Manager is responsible for driving the Category Management (CM) projects with important Special Pet Trade (SPT) customers with the goal to improve the collaboration in the pet nutrition category and to improve efficiency of category management projects

Also the category development manager acts as internal and external expert for shopper insights, identification of potentials and initiating actions to grow the category and Royal Canin sales.

Key Responsibilities

Customer specific development implementation of Royal Canin Category Vision

Implementation of Category Management projects, processes and analysis

Development of customer- or channel-specific optimization/proposals and consulting concepts with regard to assortment, placement and marketing on the basis of identified potentials

Advice on the assessment of the market potential for innovations

Conduct category reviews and discussions about customer growth opportunities

Control of internal analysis processes to increase the distribution / availability and product range productivity of the Royal Canin portfolio in German, Austrian & Swizz SPT retail

Development of the category-based Royal Canin sales presentation to ensure strategy implementation in the sense of category leadership, including training in the Royal Canin sales argumentation with relevant employees

Execution and control of category-, channel- and customer-specific market research studies and analysis to identify potential and ensure outstanding category competence

Context and Scope

The goal of the Category Manager is to increase sales and earnings potential in the pet nutrition category and to build up our leadership role in the category.

As a specialist in consumer behavior, the CM acts as an external and internal partner for all questions about the category, interprets the shopper insights gained, identifies potential and derives appropriate recommendations. Suitable communication and measurements are also being designed and implemented to further strengthen Royal Canin\xc2\xb4s positioning as a "category expert".

As a network between consumer market intelligence, marketing, key account management and field service, the CM ensures optimal knowledge transfer into the organization and conducts workshops and training sessions with all sub-areas of sales.

The contacts on the retail side are mostly at the level of the divisional management or senior management.

In internal collaboration with marketing, Category Management is committed to increasing portfolio effectiveness and efficiency and is involved in advising on the market potential in the context of new product launches.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

University Degree in Business Administration or similar

Knowledge/Experience

2-3 years of experience in Category Management and Sales

Strong analytical skills

Strong communication skills in German & English

High analytical understanding with the ability to derive strategies and measures from the results

High communication and presentation skills as well as problem and conflict resolution skills

Good knowledge of German Petcare landscape preferable
