THE ROLE AND THE TEAM

As a Backend Engineer in the Assortment & Steering team, you will join the engineering team in their mission to build data-driven and intelligent decision support systems for internal and external partners, which will increase effectiveness and efficiency of Assortment Governance decision making to a new level. These systems will be a major instrument for hundreds of internal and thousands of external users.


Our cross-functional engineering team is mixed between Full-Stack, Backend and Data Engineers. This is a very exciting time for us as we are currently laying the foundation of the new system, working closely together with data scientists and business analysts for building the most impactful data products and our product managers who ensure all requirements are user-focused through strong collaboration with our customers.

Design, develop, deploy, and operate scalable software solutions that impact our daily business using cloud-based microservices architecture (AWS, Kubernetes). Willingness to tackle a wide spectrum of software engineering challenges from Backend Engineering to Data Engineering to Frontend Engineering Own your code, contribute to technical decisions, and ensure high standards of quality through code reviews and adherence to best practices. Maintain and raise the bar in engineering excellence ex. Code Quality, Code Reviews, Test Coverage, etc Collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, translating business requirements into innovative technical solutions. Continuously improve and seek feedback to refine your skills, embracing a growth mindset with a passion for learning new technologies and frameworks. Participate in service operations, ensuring system health and reliability by monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining the platform. Foster an inclusive and diverse team culture while actively contributing to a positive, collaborative environment.

WE’D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

You have good experience with JVM technologies (Java, Kotlin, Scala or similar), microservice architecture, REST services, and API design, with a bonus for functional programming knowledge. Proficient in SQL and data modelling You are familiar with deploying and operating cloud-based applications (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes), with a grasp of building and maintaining scalable systems. You possess strong computer science fundamentals and enjoy solving real-world problems with innovative solutions. You are passionate about writing well-tested, high-quality code, and enjoy pairing with other engineers to refactor and implement new features. You value diverse, inclusive environments and have excellent communication skills in English. You’re eager to grow, learn, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
