You will join the Service Strategy team to manage decommissioning initiatives for applications and infrastructures. The goal: ensure the controlled phase-out of legacy systems, reduce risks, and increase IT service efficiency.
Main Responsibilities
Plan, manage, and execute IT decommissioning projects.
Take full ownership of project management (planning, milestones, budget, resources).
Identify systems to be decommissioned and develop migration and shutdown strategies.
Perform risk, compliance, and security assessments.
Coordinate stakeholders across business units, IT teams, and external providers.
Ensure documentation of dependencies, processes, and outcomes.
Define and monitor KPIs (e.g. cost savings, risk reduction, efficiency improvements).
Facilitate workshops and support change management measures.
Contribute to developing standards and best practices for future decommissioning projects.
Profile
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent.
Minimum
8–10 years of IT project management experience
, with proven expertise in system decommissioning.
Project management certifications (PMI, PRINCE2, IPMA) are a plus.
Strong knowledge of IT architectures, migration and shutdown strategies, and complex IT environments.
Experience with ITSM/EAM tools (e.g. ServiceNow, LeanIX, Signavio) is an advantage.
Familiar with compliance, data protection (GDPR), and IT security.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong analytical, structured, and solution-oriented mindset.
Fluent in
German and English
(native German is a strong advantage).
Location: Ruhr area (Essen, Dortmund), mainly remote with some on-site days.
