As an Advanced Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to research mobility industry trends and develop best design solutions with your team. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by leading innovation and developing new product designs that speak to the customer. As a Advanced Development Engineer, you will:
Lead the innovation and new business development efforts to design, prototype, and validate new product design solutions in support of customer and internal core team timing requirements.
Establish, maintain, and develop regular contact with internal and external customers, suppliers, innovative companies, and research institutes on all relevant topics in accordance with LPA strategy and product roadmaps.
Scout and assess new technologies relevant to LPA strategy and product roadmaps.
Establish and maintain adequate records of technical information, process methods / standards, design and program information, and records to support/procure reliable patent actions.
Ensure all innovations are reviewed for best practice from a design for assembly and design for ergonomics perspective to ensure competitiveness.
Global coordination of all patent activities for LPA (estimated 30 % of the time)
Main contact for all patent-related topics within engineering
Review and improvement of patent strategy
To be successful, you'll need:
Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant field
Experienced in global patent processes
Experienced with product development in the automotive industry or start-ups
Proven history of idea generation and implementation
Creative and open-minded, out-of-the-box thinking
Hands-on mentality, self-motivated
Sound engineering calculations and analysis skills
Good communication and presentation skills
Good problem solving and business development skills
Ability to work with cross-functional teams in an international environment
